Letter from the Editor - Announcing Our Studio Expansion!

Thanksgiving is a memory and Christmas is almost upon us as the New Year comes hurtling closer on the coat tails of the holiday season; closing out 2010 and ushering in 2011. 2011 will bring exciting change to the studio. We are expanding! If I appear distracted or tired it is because I have floor samples and paint colors running non-stop through my head as I do my daily activities. In January we will be doubling the size of our studio as we unveil our new space. What this means to you is that we will be able to expand our Hot Yoga classes to offer 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm classes Monday through Thursday and 5:30 pm on Friday. We will move all of our non-heated classes into the new space where I will be able to schedule morning, evening and weekend classes. For example as you check into your 9 am hot class there will be a 9:30 am non-heated class checking in next. This will allow us to expand from an approximately 30 class per week schedule to a 40 class per week schedule with both hot and non-heated classes getting morning, evening and weekend time slots to better fit everyone’s busy schedules. I believe this will make our studio the largest studio with the most diverse and complete schedule in the Kansas City area. When you sign up for a month unlimited you will have access to more class styles and class times than ever before.

As with any venture in which we move into new territory there is some risk involved. With the expansion we will need to grow our client base. It will be important that you share your feedback with me. Let me know if there are classes you would like to see on the schedule. Let me know if you would like to see more challenging classes, more deep stretch or relaxation, etc. While we will roll out a schedule in January and February; as we head into March I will tweak the schedule based on attendance and customer feedback.

Thanks to the support of you, our customers, and the growth over the last two years we will be able to expand and have the opportunity to grow again as we turn 3. Yoga Fix is a community of people and I will need your help to spread the word to fill these classes so that you continue to have a beautiful space in which to work and our talented teachers will have a place to come share this practice and do what we all love to do. I cannot thank all of you enough for your support and loyalty over the last two and a half years. I am excited to be able to reinvest in the studio and see it grow. I hope that this new addition to the studio will bring a new enthusiasm to your practice. While it is fun for me to expand our space it is for you that I do this. So that those of you who have always wanted the 4:30 pm class Monday through Thursday can have that class. So that those of you work during the day can come experience some of our wonderful non-heated classes as we expand them to the evenings and weekends.

So please have patience with us as we work hard to get this new room up and running as soon as we can for the month of January. It might be messy on occasion or a little loud, but I will do my best to be minimally invasive on our normal routine. We are going to work very hard to have this ready in early- to mid-January. I will be better able to announce a date once the current occupants have cleared out the space and we have access to the room. So as you think about the New Year and where you will be working out, know that we will be offering an abundance of new classes to expand your routine. That Monthly Unlimited plan just became a lot better bargain with more classes and times. Spread the word and bring your friends, family and acquaintances. As always, I thank you so much for allowing me to work in an environment that I so love.

Sincerely,
Mary Horvatin

$5 Fridays Nights thru December 2010!

This is it before the New Year arrives. December will be the last month to come take $5 Friday Classes.

Here’s how it works. Friday nights (4:30 pm Vinyasa and 5:45 pm Hot Yoga) throughout the Month of December classes will be just $5. You can either use your existing class card or pay the $5. This is our way of encouraging you to stick with your practice and give your pocket a break to say thank you for supporting Yoga Fix Studio all year long.

So tell your friends, your family, your co-workers and neighbors, - heck tell people you’ve just met about this great way to try out Yoga. If you can, bring them with you to class. We just love new students – it’s what keeps the studio growing and thriving!

Meet Drew Corrigan – Your Instructor

Drew has a passion for yoga bringing a peaceful, healing energy to his teaching. A Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), Drew has completed major trainings with Rolf Gates (Vinyasa), Sadie Nardini (Core Strength Vinyasa), and Jill Miller the creator of Yoga Tune Up(R). He has also studied with numerous other nationally recognized teachers.

A bodyworker in private practice since 1996, Drew's interest in healing led him to explore yoga as a therapeutic modality. In particular he chose to study with Jill Miller to become a Certified and Licensed Yoga Tune Up(R) Level 1 Instructor. He is currently studying with Leslie Kaminoff, author of the book, "Yoga Anatomy" and founder of "The Breathing Project" in NYC, while working towards full membership of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

It is this blend of knowledge of yoga, bodywork, and anatomy that Drew will bring to each class as he focuses on specific areas of the body to restore and maintain health.
